[ Summary ] Endoscopic treatment sometimes requires long periods of time. Therefore, pretreatment medications including sedatives and analgesic agents are required to ensure the safety and efficacy of endoscopic treatment. However, these pretreatment medicines sometimes give rise to a number of complications. Therefore, medical workers, including operators of endoscopic equipment, should be well informed concerning usage and complications from these medicines.
