[ Summary ] | Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis in children have more aggressive disease patterns, earlier progression of disease and longer disease courses, compared to those of adults. It is necessary to restore normal growth and nutrition, not only at the time of diagnosis, but also during treatment. We must also decrease the psychosocial burdens associated with the disease by providing psychological support, including professional counseling. Attending physicians, should provide medical care in collaboration with pediatric specialists for inflammatory bowel disease treatment and endocrinology. |
