| [ Summary ] | The aim of this study was to assess the necessity of experience to acquire the skill of cold snare polypectomy (CSP). The outcomes assessed were procedure outcomes and complications. Experts and a non-expert of colonoscopy performed 539 CSPs in 194 patients and 192 CSPs in 79 patients, respectively. Procedure outcomes of the experts and non-expert were as follows : median procedure time 57 sec vs. 58 sec and en-bloc resection rate 97.6 % vs. 98.4 %, respectively. Major bleeding requiring urgent endoscopy was 0.5 % vs. 1.3 %, respectively. Both experts and non-expert acquired the skill of CSP in the same way. Use of CSP may remarkably reduce the incidence of endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), so those proficient in EMR should consider learning CSP. | |
