[ Summary ] |
For patients with refractory ulcerative colitis, apheresis therapy, tacrolimus, and anti-TNFα treatment are used. However, there are some patients in whom intensive therapy for UC leads to secondary loss of responsiveness to anti-TNFα treatment or who are intolerant to medical treatments. Recently, it has been reported that Qing-Dai, a herbal medicine, is effective for refractory ulcerative colitis. The effectiveness is attributable to an indole compound in Qing-Dai that acts on aryl hydrocarbon receptors and has anti-inflammatory effects. |
