[ Summary ] We experienced 4 colorectal cancers invading the muscularis propria that had clearly transformed in the short term. The appearance of the tumors changed from Is or Isp like type to ulcerating type during the periods of observation which ranged from 23 to 49 days. We considered these morphological change to have occurred around the point at which the tumors invaded the muscularis propria. The transformation suggests that elevated type early cancers may play an important roll in the advance of colorectal cancers ultimately developing into ulcerating advanced cancer. We speculate that there may be many elevated tumors that will be considered to be invasive cancers derived from early cancers of depressed type. We should pay attention to these rapid tumor transformations especially those of the elevated type in the early stage.
