[ Summary ] Clostridium difficile colitis is a major hospital-acquired infection. However, for some cases, difficulties still exist especially in severe or recurrent cases. Clinical trials for new therapies are ongoing worldwide. C. difficile colitis should be suspected in any patient with diarrhea who has received antibiotics. Appropriate treatments and prevention of spread should be started immediately. Treatment strategies should be based on disease severity, including antibiotic therapy and fecal microbiota transplantation.
