[ Summary ] JGES drafted guidelines on ESD/EMR. ESD/EMR is useful as a treatment method for the tumors of the large intestine. Perioperative management includes the periods of preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care. Before the operation, the measures for the patients who were on treatment with an antiplatelet and/or anticoagulant drugs are the most important items. During treatment, a sedative, and an anticholinergic agent are given. It is necessary to monitor the circulatory system and oxygen saturation (SpO2) of patients during the procedure. In postoperative period, it is important to prevent and manage postoperative bleeding, perforation, and post-polypectomy electrocoagulation syndrome. We comment on the guidelines about perioperative care of ESD/EMR.
