[ Summary ] |
The term laterally spreading tumor (LST) was originally proposed by Kudo et al. to define colorectal tumors spreading laterally to greater than 10 mm in diameter. The term LST is now commonly used worldwide. However, the term LST does not apply to macroscopic carcinoma, which has a subclassification similar to that of superficial spreading tumors in esophageal and gastric carcinomas. This definition and representative colonoscopic images of LST have now been included in the eighth edition of the revised version of "Japanese Classification of Colorectal Carcinoma", published in July 2013. |
