[ Summary ] It is well known that prolonged ulcerative colitis (UC) is associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). Nevertheless, mucosal inflammation in patients with UC makes detection of dysplasia difficult. Endocytoscopy (EC) has recently enabled in vivo observation of lesions at the cellular level. Observation of colitic cancer with this tool will contribute to early detection and diagnosis of tumors associated with UC.
