| [ Summary ] | The number of patients with small bowel tuberculosis will increase due to the aging of our society and the increased prevalence of diabetes, and implementation of hemodialysis and immunosuppressant therapy. It is possible to observe the entire small bowel with balloon endoscopy and capsule endoscopy. Those forms of endoscopy enable us to improve diagnostic accuracy and detection of small bowel tuberculosis earlier. We made positive diagnoses of some patients with small bowel tuberculosis who did not have gastric or colonic lesions. On the other hand, there were a number of cases in which we had trouble distinguishing those conditions from other diseases, necessitating diagnostic treatment. As a result, it is necessary to improve the ability to diagnose small bowel tuberculosis. Chemotherapy is performed as a treatment for small bowel tuberculosis. Long-term administration is required for a number of months over year because it is difficult to judge the effects of chemotherapy. | |
