[ Summary ] After the publication of 'The Guidelines for gastroenterological endoscopy in patients undergoing antithrombotic treatment', there has been an increase in the number of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures without withdrawing antiplatelet agents or anticoagulants. On the other hand, confirmation of oral medicine is often complicated, because there are so many types of drugs, including generic drugs. In our hospital, there are medical cooperation systems which operate with hospitals and clinics in the Hirosaki district. We confirm discontinuation periods of antiplatelet agents and anticoagulants using a written informed consent form in order to an establish efficient system which results in fewer mistakes. However, these guidelines are not yet well recognized by doctors in other fields or other co-medical staff members. Therefore, we, gastroenterologists, should enlighten those care givers so that they understand those guidelines.
