| [ Summary ] | It may be possible to eliminate the cost of pathological diagnoses by using a "Resect and Discard" strategy. This entails leaving hyperplastic polyps smaller than 5 mm without endoscopic excision, and excising diminutive polyps under 5 mm, while discarding them without pathological diagnosis. However, accurate endoscopic diagnosis is necessary for this strategy because diminutive invasive cancers rarely exist. Therefore, caution and further accumulation of evidence concerning application of this strategy is recommended. | |
