[ Summary ] Total colonoscopy (TCS) is considered the gold standard for detection of colorectal lesions. However, it has been reported that the rate at which colorectal lesions are missed with TCS is 10-30 %. In recent years, Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) has been widely used for image enhanced endoscopy. NBI is considered to provide the ability to improve detection of small, flat and depressed lesions. Moreover, the EVIS LUCERA ELITE endoscopic system, released in November 2012, has provided many new technological advances such as brightness, wider views and noise reduction. This technology is expected to improve rates of detection, reduce miss rates and shorten examination times.
