| [ Summary ] | The efficacies and issues concerning Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) are described. At present, the efficacy of NBI for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) can be realized, not in the assessment of active lesions, but with surveillance colonoscopy. NBI observation should be performed with magnifying colonoscopy to achieve precise surveillance colonoscopy. Pancolonic NBI surveillance colonoscopy with assessment of surface patterns to detect colitis associated cancer/dysplasia (CC/D) may reduce surveillance colonoscopy procedure time. Surveillance procedures for anal duct tumors in patients with Crohn's disease have not been established. It is hoped surveillance colonoscopy with new NBI systems will become popular in the near future. | |
