[ Summary ] | Both amebic colitis and strongyloidiasis are opportunistic infections and are diseases which may be experienced casually in Japan. Both diseases often present with endoscopic views which are characteristic of complications in the ileocecum, particularly the cecum. Amebic colitis exhibits aphthoid erosion with bloody mucus. Strongyloidiasis exhibits tiny yellowish-white nodules. Therefore, for early diagnosis careful observation through colonoscopic examination should be given priority. |
