| [ Summary ] | Gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) is composed of several types of lymphoid tissue which store immune cells, such as T and B lymphocytes. The GALT, are located in dense areas in the ileocecal region, where the number of gut microbiota are dramatically higher. Disruption of homeostasis in the mucosal environment in this region may easily induce excess immune responses and cause mucosal damage. | |
