[ Summary ] |
Sessile serrated adenomas/polyp (SSA/P) are regarded as precancerous lesions. However, they are similar to hyperplastic polyp (HP) with mild structural atypia observed in their pathologic features. There is no strong evidence that SSA/Ps are neoplastic lesions in terms of pathologic features. The risk of SSA/Ps becoming cancerous is lower than it is for traditional adenomas. Because of these factors, it is thought that SSA/Ps may be preneoplastic lesions. |
