| [ Summary ] | The history, disease nomenclature, clinical features, radiographic and endoscopic images, histopathological findings, and etiology of IMP are reviewed. Lesions were located primarily on the right side of the colon. Plain abdominal radiographs indicated linear calcification. Computed tomography demonstrated calcification in thickened walls. Double-contrast barium enemas indicated irregularities and sclerosis in the colonic wall. Colonoscopic examination revealed intestinal mucosa which were dark blue with a form of edema. Histopathological examination revealed collagen deposits around the vessels and thickened vessel walls in all cases. IMP was thus identified. Reports suggesting an association with herbal medicines have been made, indicating a possibility that they may be a cause of this disease. | |
