| [ Summary ] | Colonoscopy is widely performed. As a result, opportunities for small colorectal cancers to be found have increased. We studied colorectal cancers which are 2cm or less to be "small advanced colorectal cancer". We divided the cancers into depressed types and protruded types. We investigated the clinicopathological features of depressed cancers which are 2 cm or less in size, protruded cancers which are 2 cm or less and advanced colorectal cancers over 2cm in size. There were no recorded differences in terms of age, gender, location or histological type. Small advanced colorectal cancer is often diagnosed early before sugery. T2 rates are high in these cases. Depending on T factor levels, depressed cancers which are 2 cm or less have higher lymphatic invasion rates of T3 and venous T2 invasion than advanced colorectal cancers over 2 cm. However, there were no differences in lymph node metastasis, or hematogenous metastasis including liver metastasis. Because there is a possibility that small advanced colorectal cancer has a higher malignancy potential, we think careful diagnosis and appropriate treatment of small advanced colorectal cancer should be carried out. | |
