| [ Summary ] | Microscopic colitis is a common cause of chronic diarrhea, especially in elderly females. Based on pathological findings， microscopic colitis is divided into two categories, collagenous colitis (CC) and lymphocytic colitis. Previously, both diseases were considered to have no specific endoscopic findings. However, high resolution endoscopy has revealed several specific findings, including abnormal vascular patterns，granular changes in the colonic mucosa，and linear ulcers associated with CC. Although there are many causes of CC, drugs are the most important. Lansoprazole, aspirin and NSAIDs were major causes in the cases we observed. The number of patients with these conditions will increase with the growth of our elderly population and increased drug usage. | |
