[ Summary ] Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in the colon and rectum is associated with high degrees of technical difficulty and a high incidence of complications. Care is necessary for the implementation of colorectal ESD. The rectum is the region where the benefits of ESD are the most pronounced because the stress associated with surgical procedures are severe. Functional disorders are the major form of post-operative complication.
