[ Summary ] Behçet's disease is a generalized syndrome characterized by four hallmark symptoms. In intestinal Behçet's disease, typical intestinal lesions are punched-out round or oval ulcers in the ileocecal region, while atypical lesions are multiple small ulcers throughout the gastrointestinal tract. Simple ulcer is defi ned as those having ileocecal punched-out ulcers similar to those observed with Behçet's disease without hallmark symptoms. These two conditions require medical, nutritional and surgical managements. However, these conditions frequently recur. Recently, anti-TNFα TNα therapy has been demonstrated to be effective in treatment of these conditions.
