[ Summary ] Endoscopic modalities for use in the small intestine, such as video capsule endoscopy (VCE) or double balloon endoscopy (DBE), have been developed and are widely used for diagnosis of small bowel diseases. In relation to Crohn's disease, DBE is very useful not only to evaluate lesions in the small intestine, including typical lesions (longitudinal ulcers or those with cobble stone appearance) and small ulcerous lesions (erosions or aphthoid ulcers), but also for endoscopic treatment. In this report, we describe the characteristics of small bowel ulcers in Crohn's disease. We also describe endoscopic treatment for Crohn's disease.
