| [ Summary ] | We revealed the clinical usefulness of NBI magnification for evaluating microvessel architecture in relation to pit pattern appearance in the characterization of colorectal tumors. Lesions were observed with NBI magnifying endoscopy and classified according to microvessel features and pit pattern appearance, either A type, B type, or C type. C type was divided into three subtypes (C1, C2, and C3) according to detailed NBI magnifying findings of pit visibility, vessel diameter, irregularity and distribution. A and B type were indicators of hyperplasia and adenoma, respectively. C1 and C3 type were indicators of M_SM-s carcinoma and SM-M carcinoma, respectively. On the other hand, type C2 lesions should be examined with conventional magnification with crystal violet staining. Thus, NBI magnification findings for colorectal lesions are associated with histologic grade and invasion depth. | |
