| [ Summary ] | The case is a woman in her forties. Endoscopic treatment was underwent to the Is polyp of the sigmoid colon in another hospital in January, 2005. Additional treatment was not carried out, even though the pathological diagnosis indicated well differentiated adenocarcinoma, M, ly0, v0, and a positive margin. Passage observation was conducted through colonoscopy. Endoscopic findings produced in our hospital in January, 2007 indicated a type IIc infinitesimal lesion which presented in the depressed area. It was similar to a star arista 2 mm in size which was adjacent to a scar in the sigmoid colon. Magnified views of the depressed area showed an irregular tubular pit pattern (IV pit pattern resemblance). Because the possibility of mucosal carcinoma was high, endoscopic mucosal resection was performed. This lesion suggested a recurrent cancer because the pathological image was similar to that observed in the initial treatment. Moreover, it was considered that the presence of a surface structure different from the usual type IIc also suggested that this lesion might be a recurrent cancer. | |
