[ Summary ] Opinions concerning small-sized large bowel cancer with submucosal layer (CRC-SM) invasion suitable for endoscopic therapy are described from the pathologist's standpoint. The problems concerning histological findings for detection of carcinomatous CRC-SM lesions which are candidates for endoscopic therapy, and the guidelines used for colorectal cancer therapy, are outlined. Important views concerning suitable detection of carcinomatous CRC-SM lesions and correct endoscopic therapy are described. Considerations concerning histogenesis and development theories related to colorectal cancer are also discussed.
