[ Summary ] Current conditions and problems associated with endoscopic classification of superficial neoplastic lesions of the colon and rectum are discussed. The Paris classification system, as well as that developed by the Japanese Society for Cancer of the Colon and Rectum are included in this discussion.
Because configuration classifications are based on appearance, it may at times be difficult to be objective.
It should be always thought what one pursue in a classification and to do scale of a classification to the purpose closely.
It must avoid that one add a rest to demand accuracy, a lot of classification types and explanatory notes. For clinical purpose, a classification is useful for diagnosis / a treatment of a lesion and is easy to use.
