[ Summary ] The critical points for successful endoscopic detection of IIc-type neoplasms
in the colorectum are summarized below :
1). Satisfactory pretreatment by peroral colonic lavage with polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution.
2). Thorough and meticulous observation, utilizing postural change, endoscopic air-volume control, and repeated observation at the angulated portion, is necessary in examining suspicious findings such as mucosal discoloration, vascular network disappearance, white spots, deformed semilunar folds, mucosal indentation and abnormal light reflection.
3). When suspicious IIc-type lesion findings are recognized, dye spraying is mandatory for precise morphological diagnosis.
As the three aforementioned critical points must always kept in mind whenever doing colonoscopy, IIc-type neoplasms might not be rare, but rather would often be detected in daily practice.
