[ Summary ] Endoscopic polypectomy for colorectal adenoma is important in reducing the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer.
Hot snare polypectomy (HSP) has historically been performed for colorectal polyps. Recently, cold snare polypectomy (CSP) without the use of electrocautery is spreading because its advantages have been publicized, a low risk for the patients during antithrombotic drug use, lower risk of complications, and lower cost of CSP.
Cold polypectomy is a very excellent procedure from the point of view of safety and the utility.
However, each lesion must be assessed, and a lesion that does not meet CSP criteria will be given HSP as before.
It is important that we understand the pros and cons in each procedure, and that we choose appropriate procedures depending on a lesion.
