[ Summary ] Based on the results of large‒scale studies such as the National Polyp Study, it has been reported that eradication of neoplastic lesions under colonoscopy, regardless of the size of the polyps, significantly suppresses colon cancer incidence and mortality. Therefore, in Western countries, the eradication of neoplastic lesions is recommended. On the other hand, the concept of so‒called "semi‒clean colon", in which diminutive adenomas (less than 5 mm) are not necessarily resected, is accepted. However, there are rare diminutive advanced neoplasia. Many of these lesions are depressed and such lesions should be resected.
