The low rate of colon cancer screening and secondary screening in Japan is contributing to an increased colon cancer associated mortality rate. Computed tomographic (CT) colonography is a secondary screening method for colon cancer in Japan. This article deals with concerns regarding the standardization of six aspects of CT colonography (safety, bowel preparation, premedication, insufflation, scanning, and interpretation) to ensure that same results are obtained at all medical institutions throughout Japan. |
