[ Summary ] It is recommended we perform blood tests and abdominal ultrasonography as the first steps in treating gallbladder cancer CT and MRI should be employed next. Endoscopic ultrasonography, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, and PET-CTs should be used after that to develop diagnostic algorithms for gallbladder cancer.
Abdominal ultrasonography is a useful modality for all diagnostic stages of gallbladder cancer. Furthermore, by adding measurements of gallbladder wall blood flow, it is possible to obtain highly accurate dignose.
Differential diagnose of gallbladder cancer include gallbladder polyps, gallbladder adenomyomatosis, gallbladder sludge, metastatic gallbladder tumors, cholecystitis, pancreaticobiliary maljunction, acute hepatitis and malignant lymphoma.
