| [ Summary ] | Japan's gallbladder cancer incidence is among the highest in the world. In Japan, the most frequent age to be diagnosed with gallbladder cancer is in the 70 s. It occurs more frequently in women, but gender differences have reduced in recent years. It also occurs more frequently in women internationally and is suggested to be related to hormones. Gallbladder cancer occurs frequently in Chilean women. India, Eastern Europe, and East Asia are known to be areas with high incidences. There have been reports of many risk factors related to region and race, but molecular biology as well as epidemiological studies have not advanced yet. Future research is anticipated to develop preventive medicine for gallbladder cancer. | |
