[ Summary ] In the treatment of gastric cancer, palliative therapy is an important issue from the early stage of the disease and its importance increases with the progress of the medical condition. Subjects for palliative treatment include those with symptoms due to gastric lesions such as bleeding and obstruction, symptoms associated with extragastric lesions such as cancerous peritonitis, and systemic symptoms associated with advanced disease states. All these symptoms affect not only the patient's prognosis but also the quality of life, so it is important to have knowledge of new treatment techniques such as stents, in addition to standard treatments such as drug therapy. The clinician is required to have the ability to properly consult a specialist when necessary.
