[ Summary ] Accurate staging classification is necessary for optimal treatment of stomach cancer. TNM classification is used to diagnose a stage of a disease before treatment. The role that diagnostic imaging plays in revealing the invasion depth of the stomach and the metastatic range is very important. But, the examination of diagnostic imaging that we can diagnose about TNM factor exactly does not exist in a diagnosis in preoperation of the stomach cancer. Laparoscopy is superior to an examination for CT, MRI, PET‒CT in the case of stomach cancer.
It is a fact that diagnostic imaging will become more important with the rising popularity of laparoscopic and robotic surgery. It will be necessary to aim for improvement of the diagnosis capability of stomach cancer using all diagnostic imaging including an examination for CT, MRI, PET‒CT in future.
