| [ Summary ] | Gastric outlet obstruction secondary to malignancies such as gastric and pancreatic cancer leads to impaired quality of life, and appropriate management is necessary in such patients. Endoscopic duodenal stenting is a less invasive and effective treatment option for gastric outlet obstruction；however, this intervention can potentially cause serious adverse events. Thorough knowledge of stent characteristics and other devices is necessary to perform the procedure safely. The recent development of chemotherapy ensures longer survival even in patients with advanced malignancies, and surgical gastrojejunostomy, which is associated with longer patency, might be a useful treatment option in patients with good performance status. We present a comparative review of both, endoscopic duodenal stenting and surgical gastrojejunostomy with regard to techniques and clinical outcomes. | |
