| [ Summary ] | The major digestive tract diseases that require emergency endoscopic diagnosis and treatment are digestive ulcers, upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding including ruptured varices, foreign bodies of the digestive tract, intestinal obstruction secondary to colon cancer, axial torsion of the sigmoid colon, bile duct stones in the biliary tract, and/or obstructive jaundice secondary to malignant tumors. Following improvements in endoscopic technology and the use of better equipment, endoscopic treatment can be easily performed in several patients. I shall now present various cases to demonstrate the use of endoscopic therapy primarily for diseases that are commonly observed in clinical practice. Moreover, I shall outline tips to effectively diagnose and treat such patients with special attention to the important points that need to be noted. | |
