| [ Summary ] | Sleeplessness is a common problem in the modern society. Sleeplessness is associated with gastroenterology in view of the two points : gastroesophageal acid regurgitation and sleep apnea syndrome (SAS). Patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) wake up sometimes during midnight due to gastroesophageal acid regurgitation. Patients with mild or severe SAS can be diagnosed with transnasal gastrointestinal endoscopy. New concepts have emerged to determine the association between sleeplessness and GI function. | |
