| [ Summary ] | Laparoscopic endoscopic cooperative surgery (LECS) is a minimally invasive surgery for gastrointestinal tumors that prevents excessive resection and deformity after surgery, and its use is increasing rapidly. Starting from classical LECS, new surgical techniques related to LECS such as inverted LECS, closed LECS, CLEAN-NET, and NEWS have been developed, and the indications for LECS is gradually expanding. Recently, LECS has been applied to epithelial tumors, particularly to possible node-positive early gastric cancers, by combining non-exposure LECS with the sentinel node concept. In Japan, which has an aging society, LECS may gain an important role as a less invasive surgical option for gastrointestinal lesions in the future. | |
