[ Summary ] Non-ampullary duodenal adenoma and carcinoma are rare disease entities. However, the detection rate of adenomas has recently increased owing to the development and widespread use of esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Although adenomas are recognized as pre-cancerous lesions, follow-up data show that not all adenomas are transformed into cancerous lesions and that there might be an alternate pathway, for example, de novo cancer that might play a role in this context. Conventional endoscopic resection is associated with the potential risk of perforation, which could be fatal. Newer treatment methods including Cold Forceps Polypectomy, Cold Snare Polypectomy, Underwater endoscopic mucosal resection (UEMR), and duodenal laparoscopic endoscopic cooperative surgery (D-LECS) are considered safer treatment options for duodenal tumors.
