[ Summary ] Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is associated with metabolic disorders, such as obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemia and hypertension. Since no pharmacotherapy is currently approved for NAFLD, nutrition and exercise therapy are important. Appropriate energy, macronutrient/energy ratio, and sufficient vitamins and minerals are effective. In addition, both aerobic and resistance exercises are also effective. Moreover, behavior therapies, such as food records, exercise records, or body weight records, are necessary for long‒term maintenance of weight reduction. At least 7 % weight reduction can lead to significant improvements in liver chemistry and histological activity of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)/NAFLD.
