[ Summary ] This paper describes the measures used in preventing colorectal cancer based on population and high‒risk strategies, focusing on recent preemptive medicine studies to determine the high‒risk strategy.
A number of studies regarding the use of aspirin in presumably preventing colorectal cancer have been conducted. However, considering the risks and other factors involved, aspirin has not yet been clinically used in Japan. Using genetic polymorphisms, several clinical studies incorporating the preemptive medicine policies and aspirin application are ongoing to establish an effective method in preventing colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer morbidity is expected to dramatically decrease using preemptive medicine in the near future.
