[ Summary ] Endoscopic gastric cancer screening began in 2016 according to a revision of a guideline and indicator pertaining to gastric cancer screening. A questionnaire‒based survey, which focused on endoscopic gastric cancer screening, was performed by the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society. The survey revealed that the majority of municipalities could not initiate endoscopic gastric cancer screening because of limitation of endoscopic number or the quality assurance system.
In this paper, I would like to elaborate on the challenges of endoscopic gastric cancer screening in Japan and the situation involving endoscopic gastric cancer screening in Korea as well.
