[ Summary ] The prevalence of Helicobacter pylor (H. pylori) infection in Japan is decre asing, especially in the younger Japanese populations. Since expansion of public insurance against H. pylori gastritis, past‒infected H. pylori patients are increasing.
The gastric cancer risks for H. pylori infection patients are gastric mucosal atrophy and gastric fold enlargement. Thus, the endoscopic diagnosis of H. pylori status is crucial. According to the Kyoto classification of gastritis, the RAC (regular arrangement of collecting venules) signs at the lesser curvature of the lower gastric body or gastric angle indicate an uninfected H. pylori patient, and the map‒like redness indicates a past‒infected H. pylori patient.
In this paper, I would like to explain the endoscopic findings of uninfected and past‒infected H. pylori patients.
