| [ Summary ] | The treatment strategy for steroid‒refractory ulcerative colitis (UC) is unclear. Whether treatments such as leukocytapheresis, anti‒TNF agents, and tacrolimus are effective remains to be elucidated. In our institution, the response rate tended to be higher in patients treated with tacrolimus for severely active UC. For patients with moderately active UC, we tend to use anti‒TNF agents in consideration of maintenance of remission. On the other hand, early operation is important for patients with severe UC. The purpose of treatment is to improve patient' quality of life. |
