[ Summary ] Minimizing the loop of the sigmoid colon is effective to prevent perforation during colonoscopy. Ideally, the fold is turned without pressing the front wall, with air suction, or the S?top is pulled back to RS?SD line. However, the recommended mode is a flexible operation. Postural change and restoration of the twist of the colon are also effective in opening the SD junction. If the SD junction still does not open, the tip is firmly bent toward the direction of the next lumen and the scope is pushed gently back and forth. Pushing with rolling is sometimes effective. Exchange of scope is also effective.
