[ Summary ] Urgent colonoscopy is an effective procedure for the diagnosis and treatment of massive anal bleeding and hemorrhagic diarrhea. First, estimating the patient's disease from the history, general condition, blood test, and abdominal computed tomography is necessary. A patient with a peritoneal irritation sign, gastrointestinal perforation, or ileus is essentially a contraindication for urgent colonoscopy. We must select the method of colonic preparation in consideration of the general condition, abdominal symptoms, suspected disease, amount of bleeding, and suspected bleeding point.
