[ Summary ] In Japan, digestive endoscopy will benefit from a desire to improve societal health and longevity, and industrial development will be required. However, product development and industrialization of medical technology and devices lag behind the West. This is the result of low levels of evidence in clinical studies, inadequate management of intellectual property, conflicts of interests, and the short history of Industry‒Academia‒Government collaboration. The creation of high‒quality evidence by such a collaboration and the establishment of an assessment system based on regulatory science will become important for early implementation of translational research. The Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society is holding conferences to involve industry, academia, and government.
