[ Summary ] In considering the history of endoscopic treatment, it can be seen that there is a current in the base of the crystal of the ancient people of the effort. In Japan, the National Cancer Center Hospital endoscopy group developed endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) using the Insulation-Tipped (IT) knife in 1995. Since then, ESD has been accepted and performed worldwide. ESD has been recognized as a breakthrough in the endoscopic treatment of early gastrointestinal cancer. When ESD in its current form becomes obsolete, new equipment and methods for the treatment of early gastric cancer will enable the endoscopist to perform complete procedures without the involvement of a surgeon.
