[ Summary ] The curability of colorectal ESD/EMR specimens is determined histopathologically. Proper handling and assessment of various histological factors is important for making decisions on treatment options.
In this paper, the extension of specimen and its rapid fixation, specifically explained as the main points of macroscopic observation and cut‒out I mentioned the notes. Furthermore, I outline the important histological factors associated with radical determination, histological type, depth of invasion, invasion degree, vascular invasion, and tumor budding and margins. I also discuss the usefulness of special methods of immunostaining. In order to determine the curability of colorectal ESD/EMR specimens appropriately, it seems necessary to identify the absolute risk and safety factors for lymph node metastasis.
